Fairfax Ferns is active in the community through member participation in a variety of different activities that help beautify Fairfax.

Each spring we assist the library with a selection of plants for the decorative containers outside the building and maintain and prune the roses.

We researched and designed a historically accurate memorial garden honoring long-time Old Town Fairfax resident and gardener Kitty Pozer. Plantings include marked heirloom collections of peonies, lilies and irises introduced in the trade prior to 1950. Continuing maintenance and supplementation of plantings occur on a regular basis.

This on-going project involves landscaping, planting, and maintaining the garden, located at Route 123 along creek bed of the central fork of the Accotink Creek.
