Become a Part of Fairfax Ferns Garden Club and Enjoy...
...the benefits of learning more about gardening from noted subject matter experts, exchanging information with fellow garden enthusiasts, improving our community, and making new friends who share your interests. Experienced gardeners and novices are welcome.
We invite you to join us for a meeting of the Fairfax Ferns Garden Club. We recommend that you attend two meetings to get a feel for who we are as a club and to see if there are projects/programs to match your interests and goals. Our membership dues are $30 annually.
Membership in the Fairfax Ferns automatically includes membership in the National Capital Area Garden Clubs, Inc. (NCAGC), the umbrella organization of garden clubs, plant societies and members within the Metropolitan area of Washington, D.C. Members will also receive a quarterly publication, The Capital Gardener which lists garden club information, contacts and plant society activities. http://www.ncagardenclubs.org/
Fairfax Ferns Garden Club is also a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) which is recognized as the largest volunteer gardening organization in the world. Since 1929, we have provided garden club members with educational opportunities in all aspects of gardening and floral design. NGC aids in the protection and conservation of natural resources, promotes civic beautification and encourages the improvement of roadsides and parks. http://www.gardenclub.org

Each year the club has a competitive horticultural project that members may participate in. Examples of plants that we have selected and grown over the past few years include: spider plant, salvia, fern leaf lavender, sweet potato vine, sweet pepper, and scented geranium. There are two awards present by the club to winning participants: The Kowalski Silver Tray for horticultural excellence and the Green Thumb Award to the project with the most personality.
|
The Club President publishes a monthly newsletter from September through June. It contains meeting information and news about current club and area activities, and local horticultural events.
|
Members share excess plant material and other garden-related items with each other.
|
Members are invited to events, lectures, tours and other activities organized at the district and regional level (D.C., Maryland and Virginia) allowing an even greater opportunity to network with other gardening and floral design enthusiasts from novice to expert.
